Olympic berths: Some tied up, some loose ends
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed that approximately 6,200 athletes who have qualified will retain their spots—57% of the 11,090 expected at the Tokyo Olympics. Here's a sport-specific breakdown of how many have qualified and where India stands. Out of the 33 sports, this list leaves out some lesser-known disciplines for brevity, and does not include events like badminton, gymnastics, golf, rowing, weightlifting and tennis, where world rankings will decide slots. So far, 74 Indians across seven sports (includes 16 players each in two hockey teams) have qualified.
