5 fresh cases in Hry, count now climbs to 29

CHANDIGARH/HISAR: Five more people, including two children of a Sirsa-based family, tested positive for Covid-19 in Haryana on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 29 in the state.

Both the children, six-year-old son and eight-year-old daughter, of a woman from Sirsa who had tested positive for Covid-19 are carrying the virus, deputy chief medical officer Dr Viresh

Bhushan said.

“Her husband has tested negative for the virus,” he added.

“The children have been kept at the isolation ward in the civil hospital. The area lane of the affected family’s house in Sirsa has been sealed. The health department is also collecting details of people and children who were in contact with both the kids,” Bhushan said, adding that the woman runs a PG in Sirsa.

As per doctors attending them, over 21 contacts of the family were put under surveillan­ce and their samples have been sent for investigat­ion.

According to informatio­n, the woman’s husband, who runs a business, had recently been to Udaipur, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Ludhiana. Doctors said he had mild fever and flu like symptoms but he claimed to be well now. He is under observatio­n, doctors said.

Sirsa sub-divisional magistrate Jaiveer Yadav said, “The woman, who has no travel history, is under observatio­n at PGIMS Rohtak.”

Two positive cases were also reported from Faridabad, including a man who worked at a Noidabased company which was frequented by foreign visitors. On Monday, his wife had tested positive for Covid-19.

The couple have been admitted at a private hospital in Faridabad. Doctors said their two children and domestic helps are also under observatio­n and their samples have also been sent for investigat­ion. The entire staff of the company is already under observatio­n. Another positive case was reported from Sector 16 in Faridabad. The man had admitted himself at Safdargunj Hospital with fever and other symptoms. He was in contact with an employee ofnoida-basedcompa­nywhohad tested positive last week, doctors said. A staff nurse working at the general hospital and who had attended to a positive case from Kharak Mangoli in Panchkula also tested positive on Tuesday.
