10 of 22 Haryana dists affected

CHANDIGARH: Of total 22 districts of Haryana, 10 have been affected by Covid-19 till date, states the official data as on Thursday. The trend in sample results of the suspected cases shows that 80.3% of them were found to be negative.

Out of total 35 positive cases reported from 10 districts, 10 have been registered from Gurugram, six from Faridabad, four each from Panipat and Palwal, three each from Sirsa and Ambala, two from Panchkula while there has been one case each in Hisar, Sonepat and Rohtak.

Importantl­y enough, of these 35 cases, nine patients in Gurugram, two in Panipat and one patient each from Faridabad and Palwal have been discharged so far. This means that there are only 22 active cases in state as of now.

Also, even though 14,703 people are under surveillan­ce in Haryana currently, samples of 1,102 people with foreign travel history or symptoms have so far been taken of which, 885 have been found to be negative, while the reports of 182 are awaited.

Senior doctors, including Haryana integrated diseases surveillan­ce programme head Dr Usha Gupta, opine that the state has done better since the beginning in identifyin­g and quarantini­ng the suspected patients as well their contact population­s, except for the latest developmen­t pertaining to the visitors to the markaz at Nizamuddin.

Even after this, the state quickly identified as well as isolated them and took their samples, reports of some are awaited.

FAMILY’S SAMPLES SENT FOR TESTING

The patient was referred to Amritsar as he was not showing improvemen­t since he was admitted to the civil hospital in Hoshiarpur on March 29.

Hoshiarpur civil surgeon Dr Jasbir Singh said that the man

had received his sister and her family at Delhi airport on March 13. The four members of his sister’s family were asymptomat­ic but now that their contact has been diagnosed with coronaviru­s, their samples have also been sent for examinatio­n, the civil surgeon said.

So far, six people, including Harbhajan Singh of Moranwali who died last week, have tested positive for Covid-19 in Hoshiarpur district and all belong to Posi block. Pensran village was sealed and the samples of 41 contacts of the infected person have been collected.
