FLIGHT WITH 177 INDIANS FROM DUBAI LANDS IN AMRITSAR

AMRITSAR : A special flight under the Vande Bharat Mission brought back 177 Indians, who had been stranded in Dubai due to the coronaviru­s pandemic, to Amritsar.

The Air India Express flight landed at Shri Guru Ram Das Jee Internatio­nal Airport at around 9.30 pm, said an official.

He said the passengers were being taken to various hotels in the city, where they will be quarantine­d for the next 14 days.

Additional deputy commission­er (Adc-general) Himanshu Aggarwal said, “The passengers will have to incur the cost for their stay in hotels. The passengers who will not be able to pay the rent will be taken to government quarantine facilities.”

According to an official, around 25 of the 177 passengers belong to Amritsar district, while the others are from various districts of Punjab and its adjoining states.

Although he was staying in a safe place, he said the sense of uncertaint­y about when he ill reach home brought on anxiety.

“I was worried about my family. My kids were alone at home most of the time as my wife, who is also a medical profession­al had to go on duty,” he said.

Relieved to be back, the doctor said he will have to wait out the quarantine period before he goes home. Even though he feels fine, but he will readily undergo the test and follow all protocols, he added.
