By: Haider Naqvi 8pm: Uttar Pradesh STF, accompanie­d by IO in the Kanpur massacre of 8 cops Ramakant Pachauri, gets custody of Dubey in MP on basis of a ‘panchnama’ – short-circuiting usual process in which a court has to clear a transit remand. 8.30pm: The 15-member STF team leaves with Dubey in three vehicles for Kanpur, about 675km away. All toll plazas told to keep a passage cleared for the team 12.30am: Team resumes journey. Dubey is to be produced in a Kanpur Dehat court by 11am 6am: In Kanpur Dehat area, Dubey is shifted to the smallest of the three vehicles for security reasons, according to police 11.30pm: STF men and Vikas Dubey stop for dinner in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district 6.30am: According to police, driver of the smallest vehicle loses control due to rainfall. The vehicle then hit a barrier to avoid cattle on the road and flips on its side, police say 6.35am: Police say Dubey at this point snatches a cop’s gun, climbs out of the top of the flipped car from one of the rear doors, and fires a shot while running on foot 6.40am: Members of the STF team in the other two vehicles pursue Dubey 7.30 AM: Dubey and three policemen are hit in the ensuing shoot-out between the two sides. The gangster is hit in the chest, waist and abdomen. The policemen are hit on shoulders and one on the hand 7.35 AM: The gangster is rushed to LLR hospital, policemen are sent to local community health centre. 7.55 AM: Doctors declare Dubey dead upon arrival.
