‘CHINA USING INDIA TACTICS AGAINST US’

WASHINGTON: A top US official said Tuesday that Beijing has used the same “playbook” of “underhanded tactics” to further its claims on the South China Sea as it had in its row with India. “When Beijing uses coercion, empty promises, disinformation... it is drawing on a playbook that it uses worldwide,” David Stilwell, the top US diplomat for East Asia and Pacific Affairs, said.

Negotiations are expected to be harder going forward as the continued presence of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in the Finger Area and the Depsang sector could be the sticking point of the talks, as reported by Hindustan Times on Tuesday.
