BUS OWNERS BOOKED FOR DEFYING GOVT ORDERS

PATIALA : Thirteen minibus operators were booked for defying government orders and ignoring social distancing during a protest in Patiala on Wednesday. The case was registered under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the Disaster Management Act. The transporters were demanding compensation for their losses during the lockdown. SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said around 250 transporters came to Patiala in 25 mini-buses and Tempo travellers from across the state to stage a dharna in defiance of the government order.
