FIR against Jind councillor for raping, threatenin­g woman

ACCUSED SEXUALLY ASSAULTED THE VICTIM ON THE PRETEXT OF OFFERING HER A GOVERNMENT JOB

ROHTAK: A municipal councillor of Jind’s ward number 6 was on Thursday booked for allegedly raping a woman, police said.

The victim’s mother in her police complaint alleged that councillor had sexually assaulted her daughter, who is in her 20s, for the first time five years ago on the pretext of providing a government job.

“Since then, he has been raping her. He blackmaile­d her and even threatened to share her morphed pictures on social media platforms. When she tried to raise this issue, he threatened to kill her,” the complainan­t told the police.

Sub-inspector Sheela Devi at Jind’s women police station said that they have registered an FIR against the councillor under the sections 376 (N) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and launched a probe.
