UPKEEP OF PARKS: RWAS OPPOSE TDS

CHANDIGARH: The RWAS of the city have opposed MC’S renewed action of imposing TDS (tax deducted at source) on them for maintaining neighbourhood parks. In June, MC had sent memos to all RWAS, imposing 2% TDS liability. There are around 1,800 neighbourhood parks in the city, of which nearly 700 are being maintained by RWAS. They are paid ₹2.48 per square metre, and rates were revised in 2013.
