BCCI AWAITS ICC DECISION ON T20 WORLD CUP

MUMBAI: With the ICC board meeting on Monday, the BCCI anxiously waits and expects the world governing body to finally postpone the T20 World Cup as it can then stage the deferred IPL, that is worth ~4,000 crore annually, in October-november—the only window left this year. The 16-team World Cup is scheduled to start in Australia on October 18. With cases surging in Victoria and New South Wales, and a delay in the start of parliament, Australia appears in no position to allow crowds into sporting venues, as it had announced. Cricket Australia has already written to ICC that it would prefer a postponement to next year.
