HIGH RECOVERY RATE GIVES HOPE TO MEDICOS, RESIDENTS

SRINAGAR : Even as Jammu and Kashmir continued to witness a surge in Covid cases, the number of patients recovered were higher than those who tested positive which has given hope to the medical staff in the Union territory.

Around 1,250 Covid-19 patients have been recovered in the past two days which has also reduced burden on the health institutes to some extent.in the last four days, around 2,000 people were tested Covid-19 positive forcing the authoritie­s to impose new restrictio­ns in several districts of the Valley.

Around 1,300 people were found Covid-19 positive in the last two days, most of them from Srinagar district which is already under lockdown from the last five days.

However, the recovery of Covid-19 patients has also given hope to residents. On

Saturday, 646 patients were discharged after testing negative, a day before 607 patients were discharged from various hospitals after their tests came negative. Most of the patients were discharged from Srinagar and Baramulla districts which have the highest number of cases. Dr Javaid Malik, professor and head of department of chest medicine SKIMS Medical College Bemina said, “We don’t know what is the current status of recoveries, but a good number of people are recovering and being discharged. The most positive fact is that the recovered include people from all age groups.”

Professor Malik who is also the member of the apex advisory committee of doctors constitute­d said cases have surged as people don’t follow Covid norms.
