Apropos ‘Stop the culture of resort politics (HT Comment, July 20)’, this trend is a reflection of our politician­s having reached an ethical nadir. Nothing matters more than winning elections, and staying in power, by hook or by crook. Dirty politics cannot result in healthy democracy. The standard of politics in our country will improve only when we, the ordinary people, improve our own benchmark.

Political parties of all hues, afraid of defection, house their legislator­s with suspect loyalties in luxurious hotels and 7-star resorts to ensure support. It is an insult to voters who are shocked to see their elected representa­tives falling from grace, while hitting hard at the foundation­s of democracy.

There is no extra facility provided for this extortiona­te rate, nor is the journey any faster than normal. Is the Directorat­e General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Union civil aviation ministry not aware of this blatant fleecing? How long will this looting continue?

Mohali We need to set boundaries for children and monitor them. Parents must sit through classes, if possible, or monitor younger children in the initial phase of online classes and speak to older children about what they have learnt in class.

SC Dhall, Zirakpur get its priorities right and strengthen the public health system on a war-footing. It must test, trace and isolate on a largescale in a systematic way.
