CHANDIGARH: Chief minister’s chief principal secretary Suresh Kumar called on Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday.

Kumar was absent from the office for past one week, fuelling speculation of his resignation. He was also not present in Wednesday’s cabinet meeting.

Sources close to Kumar said that his meeting with the CM lasted for 90 minutes, and was “fruitful”. However, it can’t be said if he will resume office on Thursday.

The chief minister’s office had maintained that Kumar has not resigned.

OFFICER KNOWS CONG IS A SINKING SHIP: SAD

Even as suspense prevails on the ‘resignation’ of chief principal secretary to chief minister Suresh Kumar, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday said the officer was adamant on not taking back his resignation knowing that the Congress was a sinking ship.

In a statement here, party MP Balwinder Singh Bhunder said Kumar had tried to exit the Congress government twice before because he felt that the government had failed on all fronts but the chief minister had persuaded him to stay on.

However, this time Kumar was adamant as he had returned his official vehicles and staff because he did not want to associate himself with the Congress government, Bhunder said.
