CONG MUST CHANGE

For our democracy to thrive, we need an all-india entity to act as a countervailing force to the BJP monolith. Given its historical moorings and its national presence, the Congress is best-suited for this role. The country, however, needs a genuinely liberal party headed by a professional committed to inclusive politics and respectful of India’s pluralism. The Gandhis can be the glue that binds the party, but a new president, elected democratically, will give it a new energy.
