Delhi HC grants bail to former Fortis promoter
NEW DELHI: Delhi high court on Thursday granted bail to former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh in a case of alleged misappropriation of funds at Religare Finvest Ltd. However, Singh will not be able to walk out of Tihar jail, as he was booked in another case of fraud by the Economic Offences Wing.
The bail in the money laundering case was granted on furnishing a personal bond of ₹1 crore, with sureties of ₹25 lakh, each from two family members.
Singh was directed not to leave the country without the permission of the special court, to stay at the residence mentioned in prison records, and cooperate in further investigation. “The applicant shall not tamper with evidence nor otherwise indulge in any act or omission that is unlawful or that would prejudice the proceedings in the matter,” the court said.
The court specifically directed Singh not to contact or visit or have any transaction, directly or indirectly, with any official or employee of the banks, financial institutions, and entities involved with the case, in India or abroad.
