COVID-19 NORMS NON-NEGOTIABLE

Violation of norms in place to curb covid-19 is unfortunat­e, especially when the political class indulges in such behavior. The common man, on the other hand, continues to be heavily penalised. With administra­tive machinery across states, failing to ensure following of norms by so-called leaders, judiciary has to intervene to restore some semblance of order. The message must go through that no one is above the law.

Dr Surinder Singla,sangrur replacing the old system of classroom teaching by online education, passive participat­ion of students, shift in pedagogy etc. should be seriously considered in these times of social distancing. All stakeholde­rs need to meet and chalk out a plan to move from the traditiona­l schooling to online education.

The present government, however, is not increasing the education budget, so institutes of higher education are being forced to increase the fee depriving poor, brilliant students of education. Definitely online education can be helpful, but for us the answer lies in strengthen­ing the off-line school-based education without ignoring the online education.

Web-based teaching for months together will take a heavy toll on the physical and mental health of our wards. We need to find the right and perfect blend of e-education and convention­al mode.
