Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu praises BJP, slams Akali Dal
AMRITSAR : Former Amritsar (East) MLA Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of sitting Congress legislator Navjot Singh Sidhu, took everyone by surprise on Tuesday when she extolled the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) through a tweet, and criticised its ally Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
In her post on micro-blogging site Twitter, Dr Navjot, who was a chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) during the previous SADBJP government in Punjab, said, “We had no problems with the BJP but Akali Dal was looting Punjab and no one was listening. BJP workers were treated like they were not a part of the government. Result; BJP lost badly, they could have won by going alone. Why are they now not wanting to associate with the dishonest Akali Dal?? (sic.).”
Her surprise pro-bjp statement has come at a time when the Sidhu couple’s equations with Congress leadership in Punjab, especially Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, are not cordial and they miss no opportunity to target their own government in the state. Her husband Navjot Singh Sidhu had resigned as a cabinet minister after the CM changed his portfolio about a year ago.
Dr Navjot has even been vocal against the previous SADBJP regime despite being a part of the government as a chief parliamentary secretary after winning the Amritsar (East) seat on a BJP ticket.
