Yamunanaga­r miller booked for embezzling rice worth ₹8 crore

AMBALA: A miller from Yamunanaga­r has been booked for embezzling custom-milled rice worth ₹8.14 crore on the complaint of Hafed district manager Anil Rawat .

He told the police that Dinesh Kumar, owner of Shree Ram Agro Foods at Fatehgarh village in Yamunanaga­r, was allotted about 42,290 quintals of rice for Kharif season of 2019-20.

“Out of this, the firm had to process 28,468.38 quintals of rice, but was able to return just 5,796.68 quintal. On June 25 this year, a physical verificati­on was conducted by a committee at the mill where we found misappropr­iation of 30,217.81 quintal rice,” he stated in the FIR.

A case was registered at Chhachhrau­li police station on Tuesday under sections 407 and 420 of IPC.
