58 new infections in HP, tally touches 2,564

SHIMLA: Fifty-eight people tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, taking the state tally to 2,564. At present, the state has 1,076 active cases. As many as 72 patients recovered on Friday.

Twenty-six people tested positive in Solan, nine in Una, eight cases each were reported in Mandi and Kangra, three in Sirmaur and two each in Hamirpur and Chamba districts.

The eight cases in Kangra district include a 20-year-old army personnel, a resident of Bandla Khas village in Palampur, who had returned from Leh on July 16; a 41-year-old woman, a resident of Mandehar village in Baijnath who was the direct contact of a Covid-19 patient; a 22-year-old man, who is a resident of Hatli village in Fatehpur tehsil and had returned from Rajasthan on July 19; and a 38-year-old resident of Yol Cantt.

In Mandi district, a five-yearold boy and a 13-year-old girl tested positive in Mahadev, Sundernaga­r. Their father an army personnel had already tested positive for Covid-19. In Solan district, all cases have been reported in the Baddi-barotiwala-nalagarh (BBN) area.

Special secretary, health, Nipun Jindal said so far 12 Coviddeath­s have been reported in the state while 1,459 patients have recovered.

Solan remains the worst-hit district with 654 cases, followed by Kangra with 460 cases. Sirmaur has 330 cases, Hamirpur 306, Una 207, 165 cases each in Mandi and Shimla districts.

AT PRESENT, THE STATE HAS 1,076 ACTIVE CASES. AS MANY AS 72 PATIENTS RECOVERED ON FRIDAY.
