Recovery rate of 4 Haryana districts goes past 90%

CHANDIGARH: Nine patients, including five in Yamunanaga­r district, succumbed to Covid-19 in Haryana on Sunday as the state saw 792 fresh infections, which took the patients’ tally to 41,635, a health bulletin said.

While two Covid-19 patients died in Kurukshetr­a, one each patient battling the infection succumbed in Faridabad and Sonepat districts.

With nine latest fatalities, the death toll has risen to 483 (345 men, 138 women).

As per the data, at least eight people in Yamunanaga­r district and 11 in Kurukshetr­a district have died of the coronaviru­s infection.

Kurukshetr­a MP Nayab Singh Saini has also tested positive for the virus. In a Facebook post, the BJP MP urged those who met him recently to undergo a test for Covid.

With 141 Covid-19 fatalities, Faridabad tops the list among 22 districts of the state followed by Gurugram, where 125 patients have died. Sonepat has seen 34 fatalities, Rohtak 24 and Panipat 21. However, despite large number of infections and deaths, the recovery rate of four NCR districts has gone past 90%. For example, Gurugram’s recovery rate is 91.91%, Faridabad (90.38%), Jhajjar (91.10%) and Bhiwani (90.89%).

In Yamunanaga­r where five people died of the infection on Sunday, the recovery rate is the lowest (51.20%) in the state. The overall recovery rate of the state on Sunday rose to 83.54% from 83.32% on Saturday.

Following 750 patients recovering from the disease in the past 24 hours, the number of those cured of Covid climbed to 34,781, while there were 6,371 active cases.

Faridabad saw maximum 150 new cases on Sunday, followed by Karnal (93), Gurugram (80), Sonepat ( 53), Rewari (42), Ambala (52), Panipat (55), Hisar (20), Palwal (37), Jhajjar (1), Mahenderga­rh (27), Bhiwani (6), Panchkula (32), Nuh (2), Kurukshetr­a (39), Sirsa (48), Fatehabad (1), Yamunanaga­r (43), Jind (6), and Kaithal (5).
