ASI dies after bus hits his bike in Fatehabad

ROHTAK: A 52-year-old assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed after his bike was hit by a Rajasthan state road transport corporatio­n (RSRTC) bus near Jat community centre in Fatehabad on Sunday morning, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Krishan Kumar, who was posted in the security branch at Fatehabad superinten­dent of police’s office.

A spokesman of Fatehabad police said the incident took place when Kumar was going for some work and the bus rammed into his bike near the Jat community centre.

“He was rushed to a hospital but he died during treatment. We have registered a case under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A ( death due to negligence) of the IPC against the bus driver,” he added.

AMBALA: A forest guard was injured when some khair wood smugglers hit the checkpost he was manning in Yamunanaga­r, police said on Sunday. The smugglers fled leaving their car behind from which, 14 logs of khair wood were recovered, the police said. “Around 1.20pm, a car was signalled to stop, but its driver tried to run over the officials. All members managed to save themselves, but forest guard Ravinder Singh got injured,” the officer stated in the FIR registered against Abdu Islam, Irshad, Mustkim, Poli and Daud under sections of the IPC, Indian Forest Act and Wildlife (Protection) Act.
