RAM TEMPLE: SENTIMENT MATTERS

The acting jathedar of the Akal Takht Giani Harpreet Singh’s decision to not attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya was disappoint­ing in the context of the deep-rooted brotherhoo­d between the Hindus and the Sikhs. The temple is the result of a long struggle by the Hindu community. The jathedar should have respected the sentiments of the ‘bhoomi pujan’ organisers who invited him.

Ludhiana reasons are obvious. Bajwa might have genuine grievances against the Captain Amarinder Singh government, but the right solution was to approach the Congress high command. Political parties need to handle such matters diligently and wisely to ensure matters stay within control. Our politician­s must not make rash judgments that can become a blunder.
