139 fresh Covid cases take HP’S tally to 3,636

DHARMSHALA: Himachal’s Covid-19 tally crossed 3,600 on Wednesday with 139 more people testing positive for the virus across six districts. The tally now stands at 3,636, of which 123 cases were reported today and 16 late on Tuesday.

Forty-seven cases have been detected in Solan, 24 cases were detected in Chamba, 20 in Sirmaur, 17 in Kullu, 16 in Una, 13 in Kangra, and two in Mandi.

Seven Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawans were among the 24 people who tested positive in Chamba.

The jawans, who were posted at power station of NHPC’S Chamera1 project at Khairi town, were institutio­nally quarantine­d after their return. A policeman posted in Khairi also tested positive. Of the thirteen people found infected in Kangra, four were army personnel and one a health worker. In Sirmaur district, the personal security officer of EX-MLA Baldev Tomar, who had tested positive for the novel coronaviru­s, contracted the disease.

Solan is the worst hit district with 903 cases, followed by Kangra (552), Sirmaur (462), Hamirpur (370), Una (294), Mandi (273), Chamba (254), Shimla (207), Bilaspur (148), Kullu (121), Kinnaur (48) and Lahaul-spiti (four).
