SRINAGAR /JAMMU: After the alleged fake encounter of three Gujjar men in south Kashmir on July 18, a police team from Shopian reached Rajouri on Thursday to collect the DNA samples of the families so as to match them with the ‘slain terrorists’ buried in Baramulla.

Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said a team led by a DSP has gone to Rajouri to complete formalities, including collecting DNA samples from the families of the three missing men.

IG Kumar said that three Rajouri-based families had filed a missing report and all evidence will be used to unearth the truth.

“Police had already taken the DNA samples of three militants killed in the Shopian encounter before they were buried. The reports will be sent to the Central Forensic Laboratory,’’ Kumar said, adding that the police were investigating different aspects.
