Amritsar man held with 100gm heroin in Nayagaon

MOHALI : An Amritsar man was arrested with 100gm heroin in Nayagaon on Wednesday night, the police said.

The accused, identified as Gurpreet Singh, 26, hails from Amritsar’s Butari village.

“He was frisked at random at a barricade in Nayagaon and 100gm heroin was recovered from his possession. We will interrogate him to establish his sources and ascertain where he used to supply the drugs,” said the investigating officer, Harjeet Singh.

The accused was on Thursday produced before a local court here that sent him to four-day police remand.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) at the Nayagaon police station against the accused.
