CUT SALARIES, INCREASE PROFESSIONAL TAX

Besides bringing down salary structure of all future employees to the level of central pay scales and rationalising the pay given to the existing staff members, the 21-member panel recommended to increase professional tax to ₹20,000 per year, an increase of 8 times from the existing ₹2,500 The committee noted that the government has deferred the payment of dearness allowance (DA) to the state employees and is currently lagging the central DA rate by 16% on old scales.
