Minor gangraped: Nakodar police register FIR after six months

-

JALANDHAR: Six months after a 16-year-old girl was gangraped, the Sadar Nakodar police registered a case against two Amritsar-based youths on Friday.

The Nakodar police had registered zero FIR after the victim had filed a complaint before the Amritsar SSP in February. Police pleaded that the case was delayed due to lockdown.

Accused have been identified as Gursewak Singh and Rajbir Singh, residents of Burj village under Bhindi Saidan police station in Amritsar (rural).

In her complaint, the victim said she and her brother had gone to Nakodar for harvesting potato crop when the accused gangraped her and threatened her and his family of dire consequences if they report the incident.

Investigating officer and Nakodar Women’s Cell in-charge Bhupindar Kaur said a case has been registered under Sections 376D (gang rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act and further probe is on.
