Batala youth hacked to death in Brampton

BATALA: A 23-year-old student, who is originally from Batala in Gurdaspur, was hacked to death by unknown persons with an intention to loot him, in Brampton on Thursday.

As per family, deceased Surajdeep Singh had gone to Canada on study visa and was putting up with two of his cousins. His father Kanwaljit Singh is a retired employee of the Punjab government.

Victim’s uncle Gurmeet Singh, said, “Today we got a phone call from Brampton regarding the incident early in the morning. After leaving office, Surajdeep had gone to a local gurdwara to pay obeisance. When he was returning home, some miscreants turned up and attacked him with knives. They snatched his wallet, watch and other costly items that he was carrying with him.”

“We want the Indian government to help us bring back the body of my nephew. We would like to make a plea to the government to ensure security to our youths who go abroad for study purposes,” he added.
