45 DEATHS, 1,316 FRESH CASES IN STATE

CHANDIGARH : Punjab on Saturday reported 45 more Covid-related fatalities, taking the state’s death toll to 1,036. The state also witnessed 1,316 fresh cases pushing the tally to 40,643.

According to the media bulletin released by the state government, 15 deaths were reported from Ludhiana, followed by Jalandhar eight, Sangrur five, Mohali three, Amritsar, Fatehgarh Sahib and Ferozepur two each, Bathinda, Mansa, Faridkot , Moga, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Gurdaspur, Rupnagar and Tarn Taran one each.

Ludhiana again topped the list with 360 fresh Covid-19 cases, followed Patiala 177, Mohali 164, Amritsar 92, Sangrur 47, Jalandhar 46, Hoshiarpur 34, Gurdaspur 26, Moga 25, Bathinda and Ferozepur three each, according to the media bulletin.

BADAL’S HOUSE IS MICRO-CONTAINMEN­T ZONE

The residence of former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal at Badal village in Muktsar district was declared a micro-containmen­t zone on Saturday after five state police personnel deployed in his security tested positive for Covid-19.
