L-G asks forces to maintain heightened surveillance in J&K
JAMMU: Amid spike in terror activities in the Valley, Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday asked security forces to work in synergy and maintain heightened surveillance in Jammu, Pathankot and Kashmir to meet the security challenges.
The L-G met Zulfiquar Hasan, special director general CRPF (J&K zone), who briefed him about the internal security management and prevailing security scenario in the Union territory.
Inspector General of CRPF, Jammu Sector, Charu Sinha was also present during the meeting, he said.
Sinha stressed on maintaining close synergy between the army, CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other paramilitary forces to deal effectively with any emergent situations, besides maintaining a close watch on all vital installations for ensuring a secure environment for people of the Union territory.
He advised the director general to maintain heightened surveillance on all fronts and also lauded the role played by the security forces in containing the spread of Covid-19 in J&K.
MEETS FAMILY OF SLAIN SARPANCH BHARTI
Sinha on Sunday met family members of deceased sarpanch Ajay Pandita Bharti who was recently killed by militants in the Valley. The late sarpanch’s wife Sohini Pandita and father Dwarika Nath Pandita flagged their issues with the L-G, to which he assured all possible support from the government. He also expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family.
‘FORMULATE PLAN TO MAKE JAMMU CITY MODERN, VIBRANT’
The L-G has asked the Jammu municipal corporation (JMC) to formulate a comprehensive vision plan to make the city modern and more vibrant. Sinha also asked the JMC for a special focus on sanitization and fumigation of the city’s vital places amid the pandemic, a spokesperson said.
The L-G was interacting with mayor Chander Mohan Gupta who along with deputy mayor Purnima Sharma called on him at the Raj Bhavan here.
They gave an overview of the efforts of JMC to mitigate the threat of pandemic and also briefed the L-G about the functioning of JMC. The L-G was also informed about the steps initiated by the JMC on the developmental front pertaining to solid waste management, installation of street lights, water drainage, sanitation and Swachh Bharat Mission.
