HE BEAST CALLED POLITICS

-

After Sardar Kairon Sahib had resigned as Punjab chief minister in the backdrop of the Das Commission findings on alleged malfeasance during his rule, we had an opportunity to meet him at his residence in Chandigarh in June 1964. He was reading the Das Commission report and told us, “See as long as Pandit Nehru was alive, the report goes in my favour, but after his death on May 27, it is all against me.”

That’s how politics used to work even during those days. Akhtar Mahmood,

Chandigarh most likely billed for a higher position at the Centre. He was a staunch Congressman. Now, the Congress is in power in the state, still we do not see any official commemorative insertions in the media to mark either his birth or assassination. Tejinder Singh Kalra,

Mohali attraction not only in terms of technological development, but also in terms of natural beauty. The report shows that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan has been a success, to some extent. Harshita Thapar,
