HC finds probe against Warring, others, ‘vague’; seeks fresh report
CHANDIGARH:THE Punjab and Haryana high court has asked Punjab Police to apprise the court whether it made Congress MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and others to join probe in a case of violation of Covid-19 norms .
The order was passed by high court bench of justice HS Madaan. Dissatisfied over the report submitted by Gidderbaha police, which, it said, “Response of the state filed is quite vague in certain aspects especially with regard to respondent (Warring and his associates)”.
Now, an affidavit has been sought detailing whether the allegations against them have been inquired into properly; whether complainant had also been asked to produce the evidence available with him. The matter will be taken up for hearing on September 24.
It was on July 13 that an FIR was registered under the provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act following a function at Gidderbaha, organised on the appointment of new market committee chairman Sansar Singh.
The plea was filed by one Gurmeet Singh Mann, who had told the court that a gatherings were organised by local Congress leaders despite restrictions.
