SLSA LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN TO HELP WOMEN PRISONERS

CHANDIGARH: The State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, on Wednesday launched a campaign to enhance awareness about legal services available to women inmates and their accompanying children in Model Jail. At present, there are 45 female inmates at the prison and one child is lodged with his mother. Justice jaswant singh, judge Punjab and Haryana high court and SLSA executive chairperson said: “Most of the women prisoners lack awareness about their rights. It has been observed that women in prisons generally have more health problems than male prisoners.”
