LANDSLIDES DISRUPT TRAFFIC IN HP, MORE RAIN TILL SEPT 1

SHIMLA/DHARAMSHAL­A: Traffic was disrupted on National Highway 305 in Kullu district for eight hours and Paonta-shillai Highway in Sirmaur district due to multiple landslides triggered due to heavy rainfall in isolated places of Himachal Pradesh over the last 24 hours, inconvenie­ncing commuters.

State meteorolog­ical department director Manmohan Singh said that heavy rainfall is very likely to continue throughout the state till September 1.

Light to moderate rainfall occurred at many places of the state on Wednesday as a yellow weather warning was issued for middle and lower hills.

Yellow warnings have also been issued for middle and lower hills of the state for August 27 and 28 resulting into heavy rainfall in these areas.

An orange warning has been issued for Kangra, Sirmaur and Bilaspur and yellow warning for Una, Hamirpur, Mandi and Solan.

The orange weather warning denotes heavy to very heavy rain and seeks people to stay alert.
