US SANCTIONS 24 CHINESE FIRMS

WASHINGTON/ BEIJING: The US on Wednesday announced restrictions on 24 Chinese companies and associated individuals for taking part in building artificial islands in disputed waters in the South China Sea. The state-owned firms include subsidiaries of construction giant China Communications Construction, telecommunications firms and a unit of the China Shipbuilding Group.
