DUTCH NOVELIST YOUNGEST TO WIN BOOKER PRIZE

LONDON: The Discomfort of Evening, written by Marieke

Lucas Rijneveld and translated from Dutch by Michele Hutchison, was on Wednesday announced as the winner of this year’s Internatio­nal Booker Prize.the 29-yearold is the youngest author to bag the Internatio­nal Booker Prize. The £50,000 prize money will be shared by Rijneveld and Hutchison. The winner was announced by chair of the judges, Ted Hodgkinson, at a digital event. According to a Guardian news report, Rijneveld said after winning the award, “I can only say that I am as proud as a cow with seven udders”, calling it “a great honour”.
