₹20L FOR KIN OF MAN WHO DIED BY ELECTROCUTION
CHANDIGARH: The Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal has awarded Rs 20.25-lakh compensation to the family of a man, who was electrocuted at work in 2018. The petition was filed by Harpreet Kaur, 28, wife of the deceased, Jone Singh, against a truck driver, Sonu Kumar Singh from Uttar Pradesh, and M/s Okara Roadways. As per the petition, Jone was at his workplace in Jawaharpur village when he was asked by his manager to get the truck inside the premises. Jone warned the truck driver to take care of overhead wires while moving the truck. However, the driver took a sudden turn, leading to Jone getting electrocuted. He was rushed to a hospital but declared brought dead.
