Haryana health officials make arrangements for vaccination
JHAJJAR PRINCIPAL MEDICAL OFFICER SAYS THEY WILL COVER 5,700 HEALTH WORKERS FROM GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS IN THE FIRST PHASE
ROHTAK/KARNAL: The authorities of Rohtak, Jhajjar, Bhiwani and other districts in Haryana made arrangements for Covid vaccination which will start on Saturday.
The health department has established seven session sites in Rohtak, Jhajjar and Bhiwani. As per data shared by the local health officials, a consignment 7,400 doses of Covishield vaccine, developed by the Serum Institute of India (SII), have reached Bhiwani, 10,950 doses of Covishield in Rohtak, and 7,900 doses of Covaxin and Covishield in Jhajjar.
Jhajjar principal medical officer Dr Sanjay Dahiya said they will cover 5,700 health workers from government and private institutions in the first phase. “We have set up two session sites at Dighal and Bahadurgarh to rollout the first phase. The next consignment of doses will reach in the next few days,” he added.
Bhiwani nodal officer for Covid-19, Dr Rajesh Kumar, said they will cover 6,250 health workers in the first phase.
“We are yet to receive the list of health workers who will get vaccinated on Saturday. Proper arrangements have been made to maintain the cold chain along with deployment of security personnel at the vaccine storage centre,” he added.
Dr Ramesh Verma, co-investigator of Covaxin clinical trial at PGIMS, said they are conducting the third phase of human trial and have no role in the vaccination drive. “The drive will be carried out by the district health officials,” he said.
Karnal deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said the vaccine will be administrated at five centres - KCGMC, Karnal civil hospital, Park Hospital, CHC Gharaunda and CHC Kunjpura. Total 100 people will to be vaccinated at each centre. The first shots of the vaccine will be given to Karnal civil surgeon.
A five-member team comprising three health workers, one cop and an IT professional will be deployed at each centre.
In Kurukshetra, 300 health workers will be vaccinated at three health centres.
