ROHTAK: Police on Thursday recovered the bodies of a 64-year-old woman and her younger son, which were buried in the courtyard of their house at Dhabi Teksingh village in Jind.

The deceased, were identified as Ranbir Kaur and her younger son Harpreet Singh.

As per the police, both are believed to have been murdered around 14-15 days ago.

The mother-son were found missing by Kaur’s daughter-inlaw Inderjeet Kaur on Thursday when she, along with her sixyear-old daughter, returned from her parental home in Patiala.

In her complaint to the police, Inderjeet said she had been calling her mother-in-law and brother-in-law for the last couple of days but her calls went unanswered.

“When I visited the house, they were missing. I enquired from the neighbours about them, but they were also clueless. I, then, informed the police,” she said.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Tahir Hussain said they visited the spot and found some blood stains on the floor of the house.

“We asked the locals and cops to dig out the open area of the house and recovered the bodies. We are questioning the locals. The forensic examination has started. The post-mortem will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death,” he added.

The DSP further said they will go through the phone call details of the victims.

“As of now, a murder case has been registered against an unidentified person,” the DSP said adding that they have launched an investigation into the matter to identify and nab the killers. The duo lived alone in the house and the motive behind the crime is still unclear, the DSP said.
