33 fatalities, 6,842 new cases in Haryana
CHANDIGARH: Thirty-three people succumbed to Covid in Haryana on Monday while the recovery rate declined with 6,842 new cases against 3,663 recoveries recorded in last 24 hours.
As per the health bulletin, the number of active patients rose to staggering 45,363 from 42,217 on Sunday as the recovery rate came down to 86.58% from 87.22% a day earlier and the positivity rate rose from 5.23% on Sunday to 5.30%. The number of critically-ill patients further rose to 852 with 131 patients on ventilator and the rest on oxygen support. As many as 87,126 people were vaccinated on Monday.
No shortage of ICU beds, ventilators, oxygen: Vij Despite massive increase in the Covid cases in Haryana, 89% isolation beds, 58% ICU beds and around 63% ventilators are vacant, health minister Anil Vij on Monday said, assuring citizens that oxygen availability was at least four times more than the consumption.
He added the state government will not impose any lockdown on the occasion of Ram Navami on Wednesday.
Sonepat DC tests +ve Sonepat deputy commissioner Shyam Lal Poonia, IAS, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease, an official spokesperson said on Monday.
The spokesperson said additional deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Bansal, HCS, will take over Poonia’s responsibilities in addition to his own duties till the DC recovers and resumes his duties. The Haryana government also issued transfer and posting orders of two IAS officers with immediate effect. Garima Mittal, chief executive officer, smart city, Faridabad, has been given additional charge of DC Faridabad during the training period of Yash Pal. Jitender Yadav, chief vigilance officer, Urban Estates of Haryana, and additional CEO, Gurugram metropolitan development authority, has been given additional charge of commissioner, municipal corporation, Faridabad.
