Vaccination, not lockdown, is the solution

-

A nationwide complete lockdown was imposed on March 25 last year, when cases were only 500. The lockdown was lifted on June 1. The peak came on September 17 with 92,000 cases. In February this year, the cases came down to 8000 approximately, and the Narendra Modi quickly took credit, in spite of terrible consequences for the migrant workers and the economy. Now, 3.5 lakh cases are being reported per day, and there is talk of lockdown. It will not help. Let there be herd immunity through vaccine and otherwise. The real infection rate could much be higher - ten to twenty times than what is official numbers as most of the Covid dead being cremated are brought from homes and not hospitals. It will be suicidal to have a lockdown, as the economic consequences will be disastrous. Lockdown or no lockdown, the final solution will be vaccine and herd immunity. As and when that happens, and if no lockdown is imposed, the Modi government can take credit for saving jobs, and economy.
