GURUGRAM : The Gurugram health department has formed 20 teams with three members each to conduct the third round of the serological survey in the district over the next week.

The survey will check for Covid-19 antibodies in the blood of a population that can be used to estimate the prevalence of the disease in the district.

Dr Jai Prakash, district surveillance officer, said, “About 60 people from the health department were trained to conduct the stratified multistage random sampling to check the presence of antibodies by collecting blood samples. For each identified cluster, eight in urban and 12 in rural areas, a team comprising three members have been formed. It includes a doctor, auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM), and a lab technician. They have been trained in the past two days about the selection matrix to be used in the survey, along with the mobile application which they will be using while conducting the survey.”

According to Prakash, at least 20 samples will be taken in every cluster. It will include people who have been completely inoculated or taken their first jab, and those who have been detected Covid-19 positive or simply shown symptoms in the past. In Gurugram, eight urban clusters include areas falling under urban primary health centres of Mullahera, Basai Enclave, Naharpur Roopa, and Patel Nagar, which are densely populated areas, largely in the old Gurugram region.
