Schools in Himachal to reopen for Classes 9-12 from Sept 27

Students of classes 10 and 12 to come on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, those studying in classes 9 and 11 on remaining days

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh cabinet in a meeting held on Friday decided to reopen the schools for classes 9 to 12 from September 27 (Monday).

The meeting was presided over by CM Jai Ram Thakur. Students of classes 10 and 12 will attend the schools on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays whereas those studying in Classes 9 and 11 will come on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Online classes and examinatio­n for junior classes would continue.

The cabinet also decided to create and fill up to 8,000 posts of multi-task workers in the educationa­l institutio­ns under higher and elementary department­s. They would be provided a consolidat­ed honorarium of ₹ 5,625 per month for 10 months in one academic year.

The cabinet decided to amend the transfer policy for interdistr­ict transfer of JBT and C&V teachers by reducing the existing tenure from 13 years to five years, including contract period, for transfer to another district and also increase the quota from existing 3% to 5%. 87% Himachal population has Covid antibodies, finds Sero survey

Even as Himachal continue to witness high number of Covid infections, a sero survey conducted by the state’s health department has revealed that 87% of the state’s population has antibodies against the virus.

However, it is lower in the children as compared to the adults. The survey was conducted on 4,822 individual­s aged six years and above across the 12 districts of the state. A minimum of 400 individual­s participat­ed in the survey from each district.

224 fresh Covid cases reported in Himachal Twenty-two trainees and staffers of Norbulingk­a Institute at Sidhpur near Dharamasha­la town were among the 224 people who tested positive for Covid on Friday as the state’s total case tally rose to 2,18,000. No fatality was reported and the death toll remains at 3,646.

Meanwhile, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said the state was targeting 100% vaccinatio­n by November.
