Geelani’s grandson loses J&K govt job
WAS A RESEARCH OFFICER AT SHER-E-KASHMIR INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE
SRINAGAR: The grandson of Jammu and Kashmir separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Aneesul-islam, was terminated from government services on Saturday.
He had been employed as A research officer in Sher-e-kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC). Islam is the son of Altaf Ahmad Shah, Hurriyat leader who is currently lodged in Tihar jail. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha issued the termination orders after a highlevel meeting. The order issued by additional secretary to government, general administration department, said, “The Lieutenant Governor is satisfied after considering the facts and circumstances of the case and on the basis of the information available that the activities of Anees-ul-islam, research officer in Sher-e-kashmir International Convention Centre S/o Altaf Ahmad Shah R/o 119-MIG Green Park, Bemina, Srinagar A/p Bachpora, Srinagar, are such as to warrant his dismissal from service.”
“The Lieutenant Governor is satisfied under sub-clause (c) of the proviso to clause (2) of Article 311 of the Constitution of India that in the interest of the security of the State, it is not expedient to hold an inquiry in the case of Anees-ul-islam,” the order further read. “Accordingly, the Lieutenant Governor hereby dismisses Anees-ul-islam,
with immediate effect.”
The termination order came after the death of senior separatist leader, Syed Ali Geelani in September. Soon after the appointment of Anees ul Islam in SKICC, the order came under criticism as it was alleged that rules were not followed during the appointment process soon after 2016 agitation. And being a gazetted cadre post, there were allegations that normal procedures were side for the appointment in the tourism department.
The SKICC is the high profile centre were conferences both at national and international level are held and top dignitaries visit to the centre located on the banks of Dal lake.
More than one dozen government employees have been already terminated for anti national activities on the instructions of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha in J&K.
