Woman moves SC challenging triple talaq

NEW DELHI: A Kolkata-based Muslim woman has moved the Supreme Court challenging her husband’s move to divorce through triple talaq over an overseas phone call in April last year. In her plea, Ishrat Jahan said, in her case the Shariat law was being misused. Jahan has urged the court to hear her appeal along with others who moved the court with a request to declare triple talaq illegal and unconstitutional. A bench will hear the case on August 26.
