SON FORCED TO CARRY FATHER’S BODY ON CART

-

PILIBHIT (UP): A youth had to carry his father’s body on a hand cart in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit town after the district hospital allegedly refused to provide him with a vehicle to take the body home.

A video showing Suraj carrying the body of his 70-year-old father Tulsiram, who died in the district hospital on Saturday, on a hand cart has gone viral on social media.

Suraj claimed he had rushed his father to the government hospital around 8am but was told to wait for an hour and half before the doctors attended to his father.

According to the death certificate issued by the hospital, Tulsiram died at 11am. “The hospital staff then asked me to take away the body and said that no vehicle was available for taking the body home,” Suraj claimed.

Suraj alleged that he had made several phone calls to arrange an ambulance to take his father to the hospital in the morning but his efforts proved futile. He eventually had to use a private vehicle.

District magistrate Masoom Ali Sarwar said he will order a probe into the incident if a complaint is lodged to him. PTI
