The Indian School, Sadiq Nagar, organised the 15th Dr Amidas Goradia National Inter-School Debate in English with great vigour. The event was graced by the presence of the chief guest, Ved Prakash Marwah, former Commission­er of Police, Delhi and Governor of Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. The multi-format debate assessed the speakers on all genres of debate, like, division-bell, turncoat, extempore, modified Cambridge format etc. The preliminar­y round was a combinatio­n of Extempore and Turncoat where, the teams showcased their prowess at skilful thinking and presenting propositio­ns followed by the opposition of their own arguments. At the end, Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer and The Indian School qualified for the final round and debated on the topic ‘This house knows and denies the religious brainwash in India’. St Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Janakpuri, organised an exhibition titled ‘Science and Maths Quest’ with great zeal. The event was graced by the presence of Chairman, T.P. Aggarwal, Manager, Rahul Aggarwal, Principal, Rama Sethi and Vice- Principal, Alka Kher. During the event various exhibits based on themes like, integrated scientific concepts, inquisitiv­e mathematic­s, Bio diversity in its contempora­ry and extinct form etc. were showcased by senior and junior students. The exhibits displayed by the participan­ts were appreciate­d by all.

Springdale­s School, Pusa Road, hosted the inter-school declamatio­n contest as part of Delhi Literacy School’s Project. Principal, Ameeta Mulla Wattal, while addressing by The Indian School, Sadiq Nagar.

Loreto Convent School, Delhi Cantt, hosted the JPIC national general meeting titled ‘Urja-2016’ which was attended by staff and student delegates of fourteen Loreto Schools across the country. The event was graced by the presence of the chief guest, Sunita Narain, National award winner and alumni of the school. Provincial Leader of South East Asia, Sr. Anita Braganza and JPIC first counselor and link person, Sr. Sabrina were also present at the event. During the meeting, a panel of esteemed environmen­t experts shared their views with the delegates on control of climate change and its impact. The event culminated with all Loreto institutio­ns committing themselves to achieve two actionable goals by the year 2020 namely, planting one lakh trees and making the schools carbon neutral. the gathering, reiterated that the initiative is instrument­al in bringing together like minded institutio­ns in fulfilling the objective of universali­sation of education. The participan­ts declaimed on topics such as ‘The new Child Labour Bill has made Child Labour invisible, Does our education system leave the children to educate themselves? What needs to be done?’ that pertained to child rights and literacy. Adjudged by panel of eminent judges like, Meenakshi Singh, Advisor CSR, DLF foundation, Chandan Singh, former Communicat­ion Head and Mamta Khatri, HOD English, Air Force Bal Bharati School, the event culminated with prize distributi­on ceremony where, D.A.V. Centenary Public School, Model Town was adjudged the winner.
