LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party (SP) national general secretary Ramgopal Yadav — who was expelled from the party for six years — on Sunday said Netaji (Mulayam) was surrounded by demonic powers.

In a letter written after his ouster, he said, “Netaji is surrounded by demonic powers... In the ongoing crusade (dharmyudh), I am with Akhilesh Yadav.” The letter preceded by another in the morning was also issued from Mumbai.

Issuing a war cry in the morning letter, Ramgopal asked Akhilesh supporters to fight without fear. He asked them to “sharpen the attack” against the opponents as the Yadav family feud deepened.

Ramgopal’s handwritten letter on a Rajya Sabha letterhead identified Akhilesh’s opponents as ‘they’.

“Our thinking is positive, theirs negative,” he wrote.

Reiterating his words in the second letter, he said, “I once again appeal to Akhilesh supporters not to get misled. Engage with Akhilesh with full unity and power so that ‘dalals’ in politics fail to script Akhilesh’s defeat.”

He said Netaji was not only his elder brother, but also his guru in politics and will continue to be so. “I will respect him lifelong,” read the letter.

It added, “Once he is rid of those (demonic) powers, truth will dawn upon him. It hardly matters whether I stay in or out of the Samajwadi Party, but in this crusade (dharm-yudh), I am with Akhilesh Yadav and will stay with him till he becomes the chief minister again.”

He said he did not regret his ouster from the party, but was hurt about the allegations levelled at him.

“In a democratic polity, to meet leaders of other political parties is no crime. I too went with Netaji to invite the Prime Minister for a family function that was held in Saifai (Tej Pratap Singh Yadav’s wedding),” he wrote.

He also cited some other events that were hosted by BJP leaders, including a feast for Shivraj Singh’s son’s wedding. “If I am guilty of attending those events, then Netaji and Shivpalji too share the blame as they too attended those events.”
