Life is simple, we complicate it. Most of the time man’s fight, struggle, and conflict is with his own self. Man strives to establish an identity based on social norms and recognition. A child wants adulation and attention. When senses mature a little more, there is this urge to win in all aspects, academics, sports… On turning an adult, the race changes, it’s now about being recognised as a worthy and wealthy individual.

In the race of life to prove a point to the world around, the struggle is within the individual to continuously outperform and prove his worth based on social parameters of success. In this race, man loses his capability to recognise and understand his own potential and limitations. This leads to generation of strong emotions like fear, jealousy, and inferiority/superiority — in a nutshell, identity crisis.

So, what’s the way forward? Understanding oneself and taking steps with a free mind towards achievement of that goal one set. As someone rightly put it, “The race of life is a means to the end, and not an end in itself”. Therefore, we must try to enjoy every bit. Gain knowledge, skills, inculcate good and healthy habits and help others to do so.

If we spend some time with ourselves, trying to understand the purpose of our journey, we’d be able to unfold our mind and soul. It directs us towards actions that will give us happiness and satisfaction. Life is worthwhile. We must enjoy the bounties of nature, the smiles, the love and contribute towards them.
