NEW DELHI: In a step towards empowering the school management committee’s (SMC), the Delhi government will launch a mobile application called the “SMC app”. The app will be a platform for the members of the body and officials from different departments to interact and address the problems faced by the schools.

SMC is a body mandated by the Right to Education (RTE) Act, with the principal, a teacher, an MLA, 12 parents and a social activist as members. After the AAP government came to power, the election to SMC was held in all the schools.

“This app will provide a mechanism for SMC’s to record the minutes of meeting. Till now, for any issue raised by parents they had to personally follow up on the action. Now with the app, the issues will pop up on the dashboard of government officials of different department,” said Atishi Marlena, advisor to the education minister, Manish Sisodia.
